Life is about aspirations, growth, and love. I don’t know about you…but I don’t want to be in the same place that I was a year ago, and the year before that. It doesn’t matter about your financial status because life happens. It is about your mindset and extending your reach. And asking for what you want and knowing what to do with it when the opportunity presents itself. Be ready! It has been said that in order to get what you want…you must decide to have it. You can’t just stand there after the blessing has touched your fingertips. Snatch it! Mold it! Make it fit! And go and grow with it.
I have spent a lifetime feeling like I wasn’t a good match for this…and I wasn’t a good match for that and when in reality those things weren’t a match for me. They came and went…just as they should have. I now realize that seasons come and go. You have coldness, you have lightness, you have rain…and although it may not seem like it at that moment…these changes bring rainbows and flowers which represent the things we desire….the things we have worked for…the patience and knowing that change will come. Opportunity is there…and you just have to pray and work and work and work and work and wait. Everything happens in its time. And nothing is to be taken for granted.
I have been in some very dark places…and I am not trying to convince you that my blues has been bluer than yours. My tunnel is what got me here. Your tunnel is what got you here! And it’s all good!
I just thought you should know!
Speaking of aspirations, growth, and love, last week, I did a thing. I interviewed someone on my radio show for the first time! Lord only knows that I have done speaking engagement after speaking engagement, ranging from churches to women’s centers to shelters…even the historical Wayne State University. Nervously, I have sat on relationship forums and been on radio shows more times than I can recall. Honestly, I always enjoyed the occasions but doing it for myself…there are no words. This…I hope is not a pitstop…but a milestone in my career and what is to come next for me. Smiling from ear to ear! I did it! There were a few hiccups, but I finally did it. Hashtag…Bucket list…checked! (aspiration)
I was afforded the opportunity to have a conversation with Tjhari, an up-and-coming lead vocalist well seasoned with songwriting and collaborations. And it was my pleasure…truly it was…not only because it was the first of many shows, but because he is a great talent with a mountain of humility and modesty which I am certain will be his vessel to drive him to the next level and the next level and the next level. I think you get my point. Let’s just say that if it was possible to bottle and package his enthusiasm, modesty, and humility in a box….put me down for two cases and a monthly subscription! Hashtag…Front porch drop-off is cool! And my dog doesn’t bite…too hard. (growth)
Aside from all of my personal excitement and desire to do more in the media, I am excited about what is on the horizon for Tjhari. Ladies! He’s a must-listen. Don’t sleep! Fellas! Take notes! Although he is present on his own, he belts out his lyrics like Anthony Hamilton. And I think he might have out Tanked Tank! No shade!! In keeping with my point…Hashtag…you the man MAN! (love)
Speaking with him, making my transition from traditional segments, definitely broke the ice and marked the first footprint on my new path. This for me, is the start of my new chapter. And I’m sure, this for him is a page in his book. Hashtag…Infinite possibilities!
