Do Not Forsake Me
By Stefania Johnson (Stefire) Queen on bling

We have been through a tumultuous couple years, loss of life, loss of jobs, loss of shelter, and of loved ones young and old. It has been a depressing and challenging experience for all but, what did we learn in the process? How did we process the life changes and move on through more uncertainty? Another holiday season is upon us and although we are starting to carefully come out of our comfort zone, we are still being very cautious so we can ensure we are being safe for our loved ones and ourselves. So how do I not forsake me this holiday? We know how rough our circumstances and yet, we feel we need to overcompensate with our loved ones during the holiday. Maybe we feel we need to give more because we feel we’ve missed so much but, did we? What we’ve come to realize is the value of life, love, happiness, growing, and re-learning our families and loved ones. We’ve opened our eyes to how we are being treated and how we treat others, we’ve realized that life is precious not because we’ve always know it as a cliche term but, because we have seen the loss and despair around us and it’s opened our eyes to seeing it for ourselves, we have been hit with a reality that we never imagined. So how do we not forsake me this holiday? Make sure you are focusing on the simpler things in life that truly matter because possessions can go in an instant. Focus on the laughter of your children, the family, and friends that brings everlasting joy because those are the memories that will last. Focus on spiritual cleansing, get right with yourself so that you can be right for others. Focus on forgiveness, even if you have to distance yourself from those you are forgiving. Keep your peace, exhale the negative energies. Tell stories, share your history with your children and grandchildren, things that they will always keep with them for life, and tell theirs. This is how you “do not forsake me this holiday”. Worldly possessions do not give you worldly peace and love and this holiday season, I wish you an abundance of love, peace, positive energy, and shedding all the things that make you say, do not forsake me this holiday. Do not forsake YOU in your time of need, there is no better treasure in this world. |
