SISTAH TO SISTAH
Doris AC Johnson MA of Psy, ABA

When you come to me with songs of sorrow
and desperate cries of no hope for tomorrow
I’m your sistah
I am not here to shame you, downplay your feelings
or paint you out to be this big bad villain
I’m your sistah
I won’t convince you that my blues is bluer than yours
or compare battle wounds with your bruises and sores
I’m your sistah
I won’t judge your load by any measure
Your pain will never be my pleasure
I’m your sistah
No pointing fingers or opposing thumbs
Because sistahs make spiritual food from crumbs
I’m you sistah
Even when life riddles us with catastrophic winds
And our only defense is to smile and pretend
I’m your sistah
Through all the struggles, weakness and strife
When you are weathering the storms of life
I’m your sistah
Borrow my spiritual umbrella and galoshes to match
And return them to me when I need them back
I’m your sistah
I won’t push you when I see you falling
Or let your cries fall on deaf ears when I hear you calling
I’m your sistah
My pain will not be your treasured gold
We will glue each others pieces back to whole
I’m your sistah
I won’t point and stare if your crown is titled
Or if the pedal from your rose is wilted
I’m your sistah
I appreciate your call of concern, your text to talk
Your email of ease even when I’m at fault
I’m your sistah
We protect each other until the darkness becomes clearer
I’m not your competition, I am your mirror
I’m your sistah
I won’t watch in judgement down my nose
Or watch you crack and crumble like your other foes
I’m your sistah
I SAY ALL THAT TO SAY THIS
I LOVE YOU SIS
