90% URGENT AND 10% IMPORTANT

WOW! Think about this for a moment… what and where do you stand in the 90% Urgent and 10% Important category? Do you go through your life urgently doing things or do you go through life not understanding what is urgent compared to what is important? Let’s take a moment to break this down. Make a list of what you consider urgent: Eating, drinking water, peeing, pooping, taking off your bra, (YES)… I don’t know about you, but taking off my bra is definitely an act of urgency for me, LOL, putting your foot on the break when you’re driving… at the appropriate moment, of course, setting your alarm, etc. I think you get the urgency in the above examples.
Now what’s on the Important list: God, yourself, family, friends, pets, making a living. Hopefully, you get the picture when it comes to the concept of “important” and “urgent.” Or do you still not understand the difference. Listen, when you are on your death bed, will you remember all the things you urgently did during your lifetime? Or will you remember all the important things you did? Do you see the difference now? For me it was easier to make the important list verses the urgent list. Ask yourself now, “How can I change my thinking and make those things and people that are more importance my priority?”
So many of us go through our days with such a sense of urgency, when we are faced with crisis, that we forget about the importance of what those crises really are and just how urgent were they? If you didn’t get to address them today, they would still be there tomorrow to take care of. But if you address the important issues, the ones that could change your life, wouldn’t that make more sense… like the important issues that could save someone’s life. Well, wouldn’t you agree that’s definitely something important to think about? The important things are those you will remember and even take to your grave. Ultimately, they become a part of your legacy. Important things you do in your life today will always leave a mark on your heart as well as someone else’s.
Today, right now, start concentrating on the important people, situations, and issues in your life. Make the important things 90% and the urgent things 10%. Because it is the important things you will be remembered for. Once you start this change in your life, you will feel lighter, breathe easier and live happier. I leave you with this quote: “Make each day your masterpiece.” (John Wooden) Stay Safe. Stay Strong. Stay Fearless.
