COLORISM… SHADES OF BLACK
The daily toll of living with colorism amongst African Americans is insidious, inescapable, pervasive, and painful. Light Skin vs. Dark skin stereotypes continues even in 2021. To combat the evil continued self-hatred, and limitations of this type of destructive thinking, it’s time for all African Americans to talk about it, hash out our biases toward one another, and begin the healing process together. On Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 2 P.M. (EST) on YouTube Live the women of The Sistahship Talk Radio Show will discuss this destructive anomaly that has both plagued and haunted African Americans since slavery. It’s time for us all to break free of the conditioned ignorance, low self-esteem, and high insecurity that is produced and promoted by colorism. Mama C will read her poem “High Yellow… But a Black Women Forever More” which, as a lighter-skinned Black woman, reflects her feelings about this topic.
