Queenager Wisdom of the week Ms. Dianne Washington
I hope this new generation understands the importance of knowing your history and stop looking back at our ancestors with shame. Because now we are going to have to know how to do what they did to ensure our survival. Some left the country or their hometown. Some stayed put. Bottom-line… they had to rebuild to survive. They did what it took because many of you are beneficiaries of their efforts. The survival blueprint is already here. How to build banks, universities, and thriving business enterprises was done in Tulsa, Wilmington, and many other locations. However, the real shame is that some are convinced (by your ancestor’s enemies) to look back in shame or not look back at all. Is there shame in telling the story of the enslavement of the children of Israel (whom many believe include people of African origin)? The real shame is on the victimizers, not the victimized. So stop saying things like I don’t want to know anything about slaves or I’m not my ancestor. That’s demeaning and disrespectful. Don’t you know you play right into your ancestor’s enemies playbook when you cast them in the sea of forgetfulness? Besides, we suffer because of our inability to fully benefit from the freedom struggle when their names and stories go untold

Take some quality time to listen to our queenagers. All those who do are blessed with the ability to gain access to the jewels and gemstones of wisdom housed deep within the treasure chests of their souls. (TiffanyCo/Bling)
